Guest Speaker: Jon Corippo

Tonight's class we had a guest speaker named Jon Corippo.

He covered the importance of copyrights. We as future teachers need to provide our students with knowledge of why it is important to give credit to those that have done the work. Students need to understand that using technology and resources is essential for learning but students need to learn how to properly use and integrate the material created and discovered by others into their own. It is important to teach students how to properly site and reference materials so that Authors of work receive credit.

Also I enjoyed his discussion on how to use technology to create graphic organizers and presentations to help motivate students to learn. He made some great points on how teachers using technology need to be responsible for what their students are doing when using computers to learn. I like that he made it possible for students to present information with technology driven graphic organizers and use itunes in class. He explained how he monitored his students technology use to ensure the students were using their resources properly and not allowing them to  disrupt their peers in other classes through the internet. His presentation gave insight to an excellent way to keeping students up to date in the classroom but ensuring technology is used solely for learning and development. All students are given the same opportunities without distraction.

Thanks. Have a great weekend everyone!
